Day of Christening

Dear Luna,

Welcome to the Christian world baby doll! Mumma initially wanted your baptism to take place at a later date when you’re a bit bigger, but since Uncle Shane’s coming to the Philippines from Australia to meet you, we rescheduled it so he can attend the event!

October 25th, the Immaculate Concepcion Church in Victoria, Tarlac does not normally celebrate baptisms on a Monday so they organized a special one for you. It was also the date of the Barangay Elections. There was a liquor ban, but we already stashed a case of beer and a bottle of rum days before for the after party (Okay, maybe I shouldn’t be telling you that, but there you go.)!

You were wearing a dress borrowed from Tita Katkat (that’s her ol’ baptism dress).

Sleeping in the church like uhm, your bubba.

Your godparents: Ninong Shane, Ninong Azhley, Ninong Jethro, Ninang Amie, Ninang Camille and Ninang Tet-Tet. Almost everyone’s wearing purple and pink, the motiff of your party.

Party was held at your Lolo Ninoy’s newly constructed balcony. We bought balloons!

baptism6

Mum singing “Walk Like An Egyptian”, your lullabye for the night (mum missed karaoke so much she hired one for the party).

Look at your cute cake!

We gave away fridge magnets/luggage tags as souvenirs but unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of them right now. Will probably post later or will just show the actual stuff to you when you’re older.

The party’s a bit grand as you could see. Baptism is a significant day for Catholics. But do not feel pressured. If someday you choose another religion you’re comfortable with, mum and dad will not stop you from converting. It’s your choice.

As long as you don’t hurt people, we will respect your own faith.

Love,
Mumma and Bubba
